WHAT EXACTLY ARE “FREEZE DRIED CANDY”?

These are popular sweets (Skittles ®, Chewits ® etc.), which are inflated and dried completely dry with the “Freeze drying” method! These sweets remain light, crunchy and instantly MELT in your mouth, creating a unique, never-before-experienced taste explosion!

Freeze drying is a process in which candy is frozen and then vacuum dried.
When all the candies are frozen, the machine creates a vacuum. The unique drying process removes moisture, leaving behind pure sugar crystals. It changes their appearance and enhances or preserves the distinct flavors.

The main benefit of this technique is to help extend their shelf life. Therefore, it is important to keep these products in a cool and dry place. Keeping candies in moisture will cause them to lose their shape and the sugar crystals to melt.

WHY SPACE CANDY?

For decades, the freeze drying process has been used to prepare food for astronauts. Why? Because in this way it is possible to “remove” all the water from the food, making it very light and easy to transport to the International Space Station. There, the cosmonauts themselves add water to the food again, just before eating, to give it its original shape and taste.

It is for this reason that we chose to name my “freeze dried” candy brand Space Candy!
